Shels minor hurlers had an easy win over St. Martins in Hollymount last night.
St. Martins were the first to point in this game but sadly for them it was all down hill from there. To give credit to the visitors they never gave up trying and the game was played in a most sportsman like fashion.
Shels were seldom in danger and the few balls that were dangerous were capably dealt with by full back and captain Noel Mythen, and goalie Brian Murphy. Stuart Leacy was having a stormer at wing back before injury forced him to retire on the cusp of half time. Cian Lambe when introduced was also very strong on the wing and a plentiful supply of ball was going into the forwards. Paraic O’ Leary impressed when introduced also. Stephen Corrigan made his comeback after injury at wing forward and was very lively. Ronan Kavangh in top form accounted for three of the goals whilst Brian Doyle and Craig McCabe got the other two between them. Final score 5-21 to 0-5.
