Our under 12 footballers played their second championship game on Tuesday
evening last June 9th against the Starlights in Bellfield.
Our first game against Kilanerin resulted in a comfortable win so we were going into this game full of confidence. The game got under way and for the first twenty minutes or so there was very little in it with the Enniscorthy side leading by 3 points on a scoreline of 1 04 to 1 01 with our goal coming from
Craig Parker. The Starlights then scored 4 points without reply but a goal from Liam Rochett just before half time left only 4 points in it at half time 1 08 to 2 01.
The back line were very impressive in the first half most notably Enda Cloake, Johnny Walker and Peter Doyle.
The first ten minutes of the second half were very even with the Starlights scoring a goal and a point to our 3 points. The home team then scored a couple of quick goals to open up a big gap but our boys heads never went down and with some great play from Joe Redmond, Craig Parker and Dan Campbell we pulled back a couple of scores. We then made a few changes and Kevin Harte and Stephen Rossiter were very impressive when introduced. Jody Donohoe was at full forward at this stage and he scored a great goal with a couple of minutes to go. Stephen Rossiter finished the scoring for us with another goal which left a full time score of Starlights 5 11 Shels 4 06.
