Brother’s Des & Colin Kehoe got the Shels on the scoreboard in the opening minutes. The two teams traded points in the early stages. St. Martins started to push ahead slightly then as we gave away several frees. Joe Kelly was introduced at this stage and had a huge impact on the game and together with Chris McGrath, scored & converted free’s at will. Clive Lawler, Conor Walsh and David Cloney were also strong on the day. Goalkeeper Ciaran Walsh had a good day and saved two near certain goals. It looked to be all over ten minutes from the end when St. Martins goaled, but good team play started by Conor Walsh and moved up through the field culminated with Chris McGrath finding the back of the net, to put us back in the lead by two point. Then as normal time was up a rare error let St. Martin’s through to goal for the second time and there was no way back for the Shels in the injury time remaining.
Final score 2-15 to 1-17.
