Wexford Camogie team off to winning start

Wexford Camogie Team got their 2009 campaign off to a winning start  in the National League when they recorded a victory over Limerick in Bunclody yesterday.

St.Ibars star Michelle Hearne, returning after a 12 month absence from the county scene got the All Ireland champions of two years ago got off to a blistering start bagging two excellent goals.

The Slaneysiders were clearly the dominant force in that opening 30 minutes, but credit to Limerick they stayed in touch with Niamh Mulcahy pointing from placed balls. White flags also arrived from Moira Dooley, Sinead McAuliffe and Catriona Debhal before Joanne Clifford netted towards the end. After shipping a substantial beating from Galway last weekend, and despite being at the wrong end of a 3-7 to 1-6 score this time, manger Phelim Macken will have been much happier with this result.

Kate Kelly also scored 3points while Mag Kelly was also on the team from St.Ibars/Shelmalier.
