Was it the goal of the year in Wexford Park???????????
Opinions still vary both inside and outside the parish regarding the magnificent goal scored by our very own Matty Forde full forward Stephen Banville in our recent opening Senior Football championship match against local rivals Sarsfields in Wexford Park. Those in the know how (football folk they are called) reckoned that it must surely be the goal of the year or even the goal of the decade at that venue. There are those of course who express the opinion including many of the opposition that it was purely a fluke and he had no intention of placing a pin point rocket into the bottom corner of the Sarsfields net and in fact he was aiming for the spiral of Clonard church. But there few in the Over the Water area who doubt Stephens intentions.
So Jason and the Wexford boys could definitely consider Stephen as their secret weapon in Croke Park on Sunday next.
