Presentation Night

Shelmaliers held their annual presentation at the sports complex in Hollymount on last Sunday 3rd February.

Chairman of Coiste N’og Aidan O’Leary welcomed George O’Connor, head of development of hurling in Wexford together with our senior club county players, Brian Malone, David Walsh, Clive Lawler, Terry Gainfort and ladies representatives Kate Kelly and Michelle Hearne. Stephen Banville and Bridget Curran were unavoidably absent.
The U8’s were presented with medals won in the Annes and Blackwater tournaments by Intermediate All Ireland medallist Clive Lawler. Manager Declan Hearne thanked Chris Keane, Nicky Keane and Jimmy Doyle, and parents. He also thanked Louis Flanagan, Flanagan’s supermarket, Castlebridge who provided the refreshments for the evening.
U10’s were then presented with medals won in Kent Stainless and Oylgate tournaments (amongst others) by Purple and Gold All star Terry Gainfort. Noel Feeney thanked parents and Patricia Potter, Brian Galvin, Eamonn Manley, Pascal Harte, Francis Neville.
U12 Football team were presented with the medals won for their premier football title by George O’Connor. Manager Bob Staples thanked Parents, Aidan, Dave, Brian Galvin and Noel Feeney.
U14 Feile team were presented with their medals by County senior Footballer David Walsh, who together with Brian Malone came straight from the field of play having helped their county account for Longford. Manager Paul Tobin thanked parents and selectors.
U16 Hurling and Footballers were then presented with their gold and silver medals respectively by Dual player Brian Malone. Paddy Campbell, hurling manager thanked his selectors Paddy Harding, Austin Hearne, John Wall and John Dwyer and Angela Griffith. Colm Tynan, football manager thanked his co selector Peadar Moran.
Kate Kelly and Michelle Hearne then presented U14 Camogie feile winners with their medals whilst manager Sinead Kelly thanked co selectors, Barry Hearne, Stephen Kelly and Liam Donnelly.
Brian Malone presented the recently victorious Jim Byrne team with their medals. Manager, Benny McCabe paid tribute to the boys and thanked the large panel together with co selectors, Kenny Hearne, David Siggins, Timmy Walsh and all supporters.
The final presentation of the night was our victorious minor hurling team, where George O’Connor did the honours. Manager John Byrne thanked his co selectors, John Wall, Oliver (Hopper) McGrath, and James Mythen.
George O’Connor spoke about the new complex and paid tribute to all involved. He stressed the need to include the older section of our community in the complex and to provide facilities they might use. He also said that communication was important to keep the spirit of the club alive and well.
Noel Ryan Chairman senior club, thanked everyone for attending and thanked all county players for making the presentations.
Kate Kelly spoke about the pride of being part of the all Ireland Camogie team, together with her club mates Michelle Hearne, and Bridget Curran. She thanked everyone who supported the team and always felt Wexford had very good support. She hoped for a successful year on the field of play for the club in 2008.
Aidan O’Leary finished up by thanking Hotel Curracloe for the use of their tables and chairs, the work crew of parents and supporters who prepared the complex for the presentation, Aine Donohoe and Ann Forde for doing the tea’s, all parents, managers and supporters.
