Junior hurlers lose to Davidstown in league final

The narrowest of margins seperates the sides at the final whistle.

The Shelmalier Junior hurlers were beaten by a single point by Davidstown in the Division 1A Hurling League final on Saturday last in Davidstown. The Shelmaliers had the better of the first half and led by 0-1 to 0-7 at half time. However, the physically stronger and more experienced home team dominated the second half and got a vital goal at the start of the second half. They then began to pick off their points with the Shelmaliers guilty of a number of misses from frees at crucial parts of the half. Eoin Doyle, Cathal Gaule, Emmet O Leary and Aaron Watters played very well throughout the game. A feature of the game was that the opposition was coached by Shels man Eddie Doyle, while his son Eoin played an outstanding game for the black and amber.
