Shelmalier Juveniles have easy victory to county final
The juveniles played St. Annes in the County Semi Final, on Saturday morning 15th September in Piercestown, and came out comfortable winners and will now meet Glynn Barntown in the county final. The Black and Amber started strongly and with St. Annes unable to respond, only scoring twice in the first half, and leaving a scoreline of 3-7 to 1-1 after 30 minutes, they really left too much to be done, coming into the second half.
With Ronan Kavanagh on blistering form to add two more goals in the second half and ably and well supported by Feargal Hynes and Brian (Turf) Murphy, the Shels never looked back.
The final score was 5-11 to 2-4.
Scores were Ronan Kavanagh 2-1, Brian Doyle 1-0, Benny Barron 1-4,
Feargal Hynes 1-2, Brian Murphy 0-1, Stephen Corrigan 0-1, Brian Tobin 0-1 Conor Tobin 0-1.
All aspects of Shels team were solid with Stuart Leacy, Kevin O’Leary and Shane Griffith in fine defensive form, the half back line gave their usual sterling performance and Benny Barron, and Brian Tobin were excellent in mid field, and with all forwards also performing well; we can look forward to a competitive county final.
