Shelmalier under 10 took on St. Martins Go Games in Wexford Park.
It was a busy weekend for our young under 10 hurlers in the club when they played the first round of the ‘Over the Water’ tournament on Saturday and also entertained the big crowd at half time in the senior match on Sunday evening in Wexford Park when taking on St. Martins in an exhibition match. The focus of the ‘Over the Water’ league is to improve the skills of the boys and on Saturday the lads played against a very skillful and determined Crossabeg Ballymurn team. The boys on both teams showed some lovely touches but the visitor’s lad’s eye for goal was the difference between the two sides. Best for Shels were Paul McClean and Conor Hearne. In the ‘Go Game’ exhibition match on Sunday evening the team provided great entertainment and were well received by the large crowd in the stand. The club would like to thank George O Connor for facilitating this event. The boys taking part were Paul McClean, Shane Neville, Stuart Fanning, John Walker, Enda Cloake, Tom Matthews, Conor Hearne, Cian Manley, Kevin Harte, Nick Whelan, Peter Doyle, Liam Rockett, Craig Parker, Daniel Campbell, Jody Donohoe and Shane Doyle. We were also delighted to see Joseph Redmond on the field because he has not been able to play hurling all summer due to an ankle injury
