Thursday July 26th, 2007 – Hollymount Pitch
Premier Minor Football Championship
Shelmaliers 1-8 Clongeen 1-6

The Shels minor football team were pushed all the way by a dogged Clongeen team on a wet and sticky pitch at Hollymount. The home side started brightly with three quick points before Clongeen responded and for the rest of the first half there was little between the teams. The first half produced snatches of good football by both teams with good combined approach play often spoiled by very poor finishing. A late first half goal by Shane Murphy, from a Joe Kelly cross goal-mouth pass, helped the Shels into a 1-5 to 0-3 lead.
Midway through the second half a fisted goal from a long range free brought Clongeen back into the game leaving the margin at 2 points. However, late points by Conor Byrne (free) and Conor Walsh helped the Shels to maintain the 2 point lead to the end despite constant pressure from the visitors.
