Shelmalier Ladies football club won the best visiting banner at Feile 2007.This is the second time that this particular banner has won this coveted honor having previously won it in 2002. The banner itsself was designed by Shelmalier Ladies Club committee and created by Horeswood artist Dick Crosbie. The Banner depicts the three main areas of the Shelmalier Club, Castlebridge, Curracloe and Screen. Castlebridge is represented by the Old mill, in the centre of the Banner the hills of screen are depicted and Curracloe is represented by its beautiful coastline.
In the centre of the banner there are two girls challenging for a ball in the clubs colours royal blue and white and alternative colours royal blue and yellow. Indeed such was the success of the banner that the concept was adapted by the men’s club when they were updating their banner a couple of years ago.
There were many at Feile who complemented the girls and club management on the turn out of the girls in the parade. Many felt that they were strong contenders for the best dressed team as well.
Great credit must go to the Committee and team management for ensuring the Clubs high standards in dress code were continued.
