U10 Camogie League so far.

The U10 camogie league enters the last rounds. Read how the St Ibars girls have been getting on so far.

St Ibars V Olyegate
The U10 team took on Olyegate in their first league game. They played well and showed great promise for the season. Olyegate got off to a great scoring form and scored 4 goals before St Ibars replied with one. The final score of the mat was Olyegat 4-0, St Ibars 1-0.

St Ibars V Shamrocks
U10 team played The Shamrocks on the 21st April in the second round of the league. St Ibars got the full points from this match after winning 8 goals to 2 goals. This was a great team performance with some good defending and excellent score taking, Shauna Kelly scoring 7 goals and Katie Leacy with another. There were some great goalie skills displayed by Megan Murphy. All the players tried hard and it was a great win.

St Ibars V Rathnure
There next encounter was against Rathnure on Saturday 28th April. Rathnure proved to be too strong for the local girls but they fought on and the final score was 7-0 to 3-0.

St Ibars V Blackwater
On the 12th April, the U10s took on neighbours Blackwater and St Ibars were determined to get another victory. St Ibars opened the scoring with a goal by Jessie Harding and this got them off to a great start. This was soon followed with a goal by Katie Leacy before Jessie Harding added another. Shauna Kelly netted four more goals for the Ibars and Jessie Harding finished off the scoring with a goal in the last minutes. Blackwater scored a goal in each half leaving the final score at St Ibars 8-0, Blackwater 2-0. All the team played very well and despite the wet conditions gave a good exhibition. Meegan Murphy, Roisin Doolan, Chloe Mahon and Caoimhne Kenneally played a great game in defence and were solid throughout. Aisling Jones, Katie Leacy and Zoe O’Leary commanded the mid field. Up front, Jessie Harding, Shauna Kelly and Siobhan Doolan were a constant threat to the Blackwater goal. Jennifer Murphy, Lessney Lannigan and Olivia Montague added to the strength of the team when introduced. It was a great team performance and another victory for the U10s.

St Ibars V Rapparees
St Ibars/Shelmalier Under 10 team took on the Rapparees in the league on Wednesday 26th April, in Hollymount. Once again the local girls were in great scoring form and took away another great win. The game opened with a goal from Shauna Kelly, who then added two more before long. The opponents found it hard to keep the forwards quiet and before the first half was over, Aisling Jones had scored another goal for St Ibars. Rapparees did score a goal in the first half but the local girls played very well and commanded a good lead at the break. The second half was a closer affair and the St Ibar’s backs held strong and didn’t kept a clean sheet for the second half, thanks also to some good goal keeping by Meegan Murphy. Gemma Fox sent in some great ball from mid field and kept the forwards busy. Laurin Gordan and Shauna Kelly added a goal each to leave the final score, St Ibars 6 goals, Rapparees 1 goal. This was a very good team performance and all the team and substitutes introduced played very well.

St Ibars V Oulairt

St Ibars U10s took on Oulairt on Thursday 28th June in wet and windy conditions in Hollymount. The girls played well but were out classed by a better striking Oulairt force. The final score was Oulairt 8-0, St Ibars 1-0, with the St Ibars goal scored by Jessy Harding.

St Ibars V Cloughbawn

St Ibars played Cloughbawn in the second last game of the league. Although they gave a great dislay of team performance the scores didn’t come their way. In the second half they narrowly missed the target on a few occasions and were beaten on a final score line of Cloughbawn 3-3, St Ibars no score.
