What is project 2010?
Project 2010 is the overall plan for the development of the GAA and ancillary facilities at the Shelmalier GAA grounds at Hollymount.
Why is it called Project 2010?
In 2010 the parish and Wexford GAA in general will celebrate the centenary of Wexford’s first All Ireland Senior Hurling Final victory in 1910 in which Wexford was represented by Castlebridge. The project is named in honour of this great celebration and also as a target date for the completion of the entire development at Hollymount
Who will the facilities cater for?
The facilities will primarily cater for Shelmalier GAA Club, Shelmalier Ladies’s Football, and St Ibar’s/Shelmalier Camogie Club, Shelmalier Coiste Na Nog, Castlebridge Handball Club and the wider community of the Parish.
When did the planning commence for Project 2010?
While the initial development at Hollymount commenced in 1971 since then 2 additional pitches have been developed. The recent planning for the project commenced in 2003.
Who is overseeing the project?
The project is being delivered by the main development committee under the chairmanship of Noel Ryan. The committee membership includes representatives from Shelmalier GAA Club, Shelmalier Ladies’s Football, St Ibar’s/Shelmalier Camogie Club, and Shelmalier Coiste Na Nog.
The main committee is split into 3 sub committees, comprising a financial, building and facilities committee.
How did the plans for the development evolve?
Following the commencement of planning for the project an exhaustive consultation process was started involving all the stakeholder clubs and the wider community.
Following an examination and appraisal of all the proposals the development committee produced a final blueprint for the development which was subsequently endorsed by all the relevant clubs.
What were the key decisions taken?
1. The purchase of additional lands to facilitate the development of a 4th playing pitch.
2. The locating of the complex on the new lands at the interface of the 4 pitches.
3. The range of facilities to be provided on the entire campus and within the main complex.

At what stage is the development?
Earlier this year following an advertised competitive tendering process Bushel Construction were awarded the tender for the main construction of the complex. It is expected that this contract will be completed by the end of August 2007. The main fit out of the complex is planned to take place in the 6 month period commencing September 2007 subject to adequate fundraising. The building committee under the stewardship of Chairman Neil Hurley is overseeing this phase of the project.
Who designed the complex?
Mahon/Fox are the architects for the project, Donal Power B.E is the structural engineer on the project and Colm Tynan is the M&E advisor on the project.
