Second win by Junior hurlers.

A depleted Shels second team got their second win of the junior hurling league in Gussrane on Sat evening last 7th April by defeating Gussrane by a two point margin.

A depleted Shels second team got their second win of the Junior hurling league in Gusserane on Sat evening last, 7th April, by defeating Gusserane by a two point margin. The Shels were further depleted after 2 minutes when Darren Malone went over on his ankle and was a passenger for the remainder of the first half. The Shels still played with great spirit and went in at half time level at 0-4 points each. Scorers in the first half for the Shels were Chris Wall 0-2, D.Cloney 0-1 and T.Barron 0-1.
The Shelmaliers controlled the game from the start of the second half, with 3 points from Chris Wall and when Willie O Shaughnessy scored a fine goal from a pass by Barry Murphy  they looked to have game won. However, Willie O Shaughnessy received an injury after scoring and was unable to run for  the remainder of the  game. Shels defended with great determination but Gusserane got 2 late goals to bring them close to Shels in the last few minutes. Final score :Shelmaliers 1-9 Gussrane 2-4, with second half scorers for the Shelmaliers, C.Wall 0-3 W .O Shaughnessy 1-0 and T.Barron 0-1.
