Banville stars for Wexford

Stephen Banville who made an impressive first start for the Wexford Senior hurlers in their magnificent two point victory over Clare in Ennis on Sunday last

Congratulations to clubman Stephen Banville who made an impressive first start for the Wexford Senior hurlers in their magnificent two point victory over Clare in Ennis on Sunday last 3rd February. This was Stephens first time to begin a League game having previously performed very well when coming on as a sub. He scored a point in the first half and contributed a big part to Wexfords other scores, before having to leave the field of play through injury. Stephen was joined in the starting line up by fellow Shels man Clive Lawlor who lined out in the half back line and who himself has developed quiet a reparation as an outstanding defender. Clive has recently also performed very well for St Patricks College in Dublin in the inter colleges Fitzgibbin Cup hurling competition. We wish them both every success in the future. Another Shels man making a big name for himself on the inter-county football scene is Brian Malone who has become a regular fixture on the Wexford Senior Football team this year. Brian capped a fine performance against fancied Wicklow on Sunday week last with the man of the match award by the local press.

The long wait for a modern and suitable complex in Hollymount, to catering for all the people of the parish, has finally come to an end, when the developers diggers and other building machinery recently moved on to our site in Hollymount to commence work. With the foundations already in place last week, the steel structure should begin shortly and the whole project should be finished by the autumn.  Through the hard work and commitment of the whole parish this modern project will finally come to reality. The club would like at this stage to thank the people who have helped us get this far and we sincerely hope you will continue to assist us to make this ambitious dream into a reality as soon as possible. The main fundraisers for this project are the club lotto and the monthly contribution from many parishioners. The last week’s lucky winners from the club lotto there were no jackpot winners, but match 3 winners were Mick, Timmy Walsh, Aidan Murphy, Barbara Cin, John and Jess, Jim Redmond, and Michael and Mag. who each received €30. Next weeks lotto jackpot will be €14,600.
