John Murray Show

Congratulations to the Shelmalier Walking Club who made it to the last three from over forty entrants in the South East to host the famous John Murray Show walk in the south east.

The local club was piped by Bunclody Walking Club for the honour to host the famous radio show walk on Sunday next. We would like to thank the club members who helped prepare the submission to the show.

Walking Club clip on RTE

All the members of the Shelmalier Walking Club who took part in the recent Operation Transformation walk in Curracloe were highlighted on the RTE programme of the same name on Tuesday night last.

This is very positive exposure for all involved in both the walking club and in Hollymount. Many thanks to video expert Declan Flanagan who put in an enormous amount of work to ensure that the video clip was edited for RTE. The walking club had an away walk in Tinahealy on Sunday last.

Operation Transformation

Over 80 people participated in the local Operation Transformation organised Shelmalier Walking club which took at the Raven forest and beach on Saturday last.

These nationally organised events took place in many parts of the country and the Shelmalier event was one of the largest. The full event was videoed by Declan Flanagan and it is hoped that this will appear on the RTE programme of the same name in the near future. The Shelmalier Walking club would like to thank the many walkers who took part in the event

Charity Walk

Over 50 people turned out last Sunday for the annual Shelmalier GAA Clubs New Year’s Charity Walk at the Raven forest and beach in Curracloe.

This walk, organized by the Shelmalier Walking Club, on behalf of the Shelmalier GAA Club has developed into an important date on the clubs calendar. Having supported many different charities in the last number of years this year’s recipients is the Irish Heart Foundation who represented in the walk by Fran Fitzhenry. In near perfect weathers conditions all participants thoroughly enjoyed the experience taking in a lovely 10km walk through the forest and back by the sea shore. Denise Feeney on behalf of the organizing committee thanked everybody for their support to the event and to the Irish Heart Foundation and especially for the welcome refreshments served afterwards. Anybody interested in getting further details of the regular activities of the Shelmalier Walking Club should contact Denise on 086-7302249.
