U12’s in Dublin

Sat morning saw the Shels u12 hurling panel make the trip to Dublin to play in the St. Vincent’s hurling tournament.

The panel was made up of David Doyle, Aodhan Byrne, Conor Roche, Corey Lawlor, Paul Hearne, Sean Cullen, Ben McAleese, Adam O’Leary, Tiarnan Malone, Joe Devereux, Mark Scallan, Dylan O’Neill, Barry Cloake, Sean Og Flanagan, Ryan Keilthy, Eoin McCarthy, Darren O’Leary and Aaron Kinsella. Louis Gainfort and Adam Murphy were also here to give the lads support and encouragement so thank you lads for that. The boys headed off on the bus early for what turned out to be a great day for all. The lads played 4 games in the tournament which was a great achievement because they were all very physical and at least 40 min games. The only way to give a report on today is to say EVERY parent should be extremely proud of their son because they went up to Dublin and represented their club and county with the highest standard of talent and respect. The lads had some questionable decisions put against them but they played on and as a result got to win the shield one more time for the Shels. When all hurling was done the boys went to get watered and fed on the way home. All had a great day and thanks to the parents who travelled to help and give their support.

U12 V Craanford

Friday 1st Aug, the Shels boys made the journey up to Craanford for their latest round of the championship.

We had excellent numbers again tonight so thanks to all who travelled. The game got off to a bit of a rocky start for the Shels with Craanford getting most of the scores putting the lads under some pressure. At the break Craanford  lead 2-3 to 1 point. After a team talk, some fresh legs and some position changes the Shels came back with all guns blazing. The lads really did turn on their skill getting most of the possession. There was some excellent hurling displayed here one of those pieces was when Adam O’Leary raced across the pitch and jumped up and at full stretch plucked the ball out of the air and let it into the forwards and with great skill Shels got a goal. David Doyle in the goal made some unbelievable saves keeping the Shels in the game. The pressure was constantly put on by the Shels which resulted in the game ending up in a tie the final score was 3-3 to 3-3. Well done to ALL the lads another great game of hurling to watch.

U12 H V Blackwater

This week we made the short trip to Blackwater to play a back fixture from earlier in the championship which had been cancelled.

These games are usually very tight with not much between the 2 teams and tonight was no different it was a good game again as usual. Blackwater had the advantage at the break with 2 goals to Shels 1 point. Shels turned up their game and in the last 15 mins they had most of the play but it was one of those nights where things just did not go right for Shels despite the fact ALL of them played their hearts out. It was great to see the high numbers here tonight and all of the lads getting a game. The lads can be well proud of themselves they never gave up right till the final whistle they tried to get the win scoring 4 goals and David Doyle in the goal making excellent saves but unfortunately they got bet by just 1 goal. So we back to the training on Thursday night to get ready for next week. Well done tonight boys keep up the great work.
