U12 Shels are Champs

There was great excitement in Wexford park recently when we won the A team B shield final on a scoreline of Shels 4.05 to Glynn/Barntown 1.03.

The boys started very well against the wind with Jack Redmond scoring a goal in the first two minutes followed quickly by a point from Cian Doyle. The team worked very hard for the rest of the third with Eoin manning the goal very well and great defending from all the backs, Adam, Sean, Robbie D, Michael and Shane who had the game of his life. The score at this stage was Shels 1.01 to Glynn 0.00.in the second third we lost our way a bit Glynn began to get on top.  Cathal and Robbie M were introduced and Glynn reduced the score, it now stood Shels 1.03 t to Glynn 0.03. The Shels scorers in that second third were Jack and Ryan with a point each. If the character and will to win was questioned of this team they answered it in abundance the whole team came up trumps. Eoin, Adam, Sean, Shane, Robbie M. & Michael defended as if their lives depended on it. Cian and Mark dominated midfield and all this set the platform for the forwards to step up and they did. Luke won great ball and put over a great free. Barry worked hard and got a goal. Ryan moved to the edge of the square and got a further 1.01 Jack got another goal. Robbie D, Cathal, Aaron and Niall, also worked brilliantly. The final scoreline of 4.05 to1.03 shows a great attitude from the boys who applied a great work rate and discipline. At the final whistle there were great scenes of joy as the boys celebrated with the rest of the panel, 26 in total as Mark Scallan received the shield as he thanked Glynn, Parents, the club and mentors. Then there were some photos taken as everyone filtered away with the party kept on hold until after the football final next Sunday where a lot of the panel members are involved again. Shels abu

U12 H Beat Rathnure

A massive well done to our u12 hurlers tonite who came away with a great win over rathnure in rathnure in the A semi final .

The game was a titanic struggle with the shels getting a good start and maintaining this lead for a long period only for rathnure to equalise with ten minutes left.if the character of this team and boys was tested they answered it in spades, showing a huge willingness to see out the game as winners which they did by four points in the end.this was a great team performance and the boys never gave up.this game had a very high standard from both sides with rathnure throwing everything at our boys.the shels worked their socks off and defended ,attacked, and played their hearts out.its now back to to the field to train hard and keep developing their skills in anticipation of the forthcoming final.keep up the hardwork boys .shels Abu
