The Shelmalier GAA Club would like to thank the local people who recently helped the club with the installation of the all new camera system in Hollymount. This system will greatly assist the club in monitoring the grounds and facilities 24 hours a day.

Junior Football update

The Shelmalier junior footballers travelled to Oylegate to take on the Shamrocks in the third round of the championship on Saturday week last.

After a very one sided match won by 1-15 to 0-9. Conor Hearne, Neal Rossiter, Eoghan Fitzgerald, Jody Donohoe and Tony Smith gave the Shelmaliers a commanding 1-8 to 0-4 half time lead and apart from a slight recovery by the Shamrocks in the third quarter the Shelmalier were always in control of the match. The team travelled to Monageer on Sunday morning last in their fourth round of the junior football championship against the Starlights and had a comfortable victory bby 2-19 to 0-6. Michael Feeney, Jody Donohoe, Enda Cloake, Neal Rossiter, Colin Redmond and Colin Cleary were among the scorers for the Shelmaliers. The juniors return to hurling action this weekend when they take on the Faythe Harrriers in Wexford Park on Saturday 15th August at 5pm

Senior Hurling V Glynn- Report

The Shelmalier senior hurlers welcomed Glynn Barntown to Hollymount on Thursday last in the fourth round of the senior hurling league

After a very entertaining and challenging match the Shelmaliers came out on top on a final score line of Shelmaliers 0-21 Glynn Barntown 1-11. The Shelmaliers dominated the first 15 minutes with points from Conor Byrne (3), Eoin Doyle (2) and James Cash (2) to build up a commanding 0-7 to 0-2 lead. Glynn Barntown rallied in the last 10 minutes of the half but further points from Paraic O Leary, Tommy Barron, Brian Doyle and Ciaran O Shaughnessy saw the Shelmalier lead by 0-14 to 0-7 at half time. Tommy Barron extended his teams lead on the resumption but a goal from Barntown in the 20th minute left only four points between the side. However, the Shelmaliers scored the last four points to win on a final score of 0-21 to 1-11.

Hard luck to our senior ladies who lost out to Rathnure last Sunday

4-10 to 3-6, in the County Senior semi-final.  We are so proud of these ladies who have given the club and the parish so many memorable days.
