All roads lead to the local Shelmalier GAA grounds in Hollymount on Bank Holiday Monday next 6th June for a great family fun day out at the annual Shelmalier Field Day starting at 1pm.
This annual Field Day is always a big local attraction offering something for all ages with the emphasis on fun and enjoyment for all the family. The children will be well catered for with a special child’s sports offering all types of games and challenges face painting, treasure hunt, hurling and football skills games, not forgetting the mouthwatering and tasty burger, hot dogs, ice cream and sweets all on sale on the day. If you are not interested in burger there’s tea or coffee with delicious scones with jam and cream. There will also be a large array of other games where your skills and dexterity will be greatly tested, not forgetting possible becoming overall winner on the day. Nigel and his crew will be blasting out the latest hits of the day and a few older songs as well. If you feel like having a flutter on the sheep or the ducks place your bet and have the fun and excitement of watching them pass winning post first in first place. Put you hurling and camogie skills to good use by perhaps becoming the Shelmalier crossbar champions for 2016. Finally the Shelmalier Field Day is really about coming along to this local event and meeting and chatting to the people of the parish and having a bit of fun and enjoyment thrown in.
