The Shelmalier junior team qualified for both the football and hurling league finals with victories over Monageer in the football semi -final and Taghmon/Camross in the hurling semi-final.
The junior footballers travelled to Monageer on Tuesday evening last and came away with a victory of 2-15 to 2-9 after a hard fought game. Liam Donnelly got the black and amber side off to an early 2 point lead and a goal by Tony Smith in the 12th minute extended his teams lead before Aaron Murphy got a second in the 20th minute to leave a half time score of 2-9 to 0-6 in favour of the visitors. Two quick goals by Monageer in the third quarter put only three point between the sides before the Shelmaliers rallied to leave a 6 point margins at the final whistle. The team now play the Volunteers in the league final.
