We had two cracking finals that went down to the wire.
The sunshine was out, the crowds came and they weren’t disappointed. The boys and girls served up top class hurling with all the skills on view. The shield final was won by Hannah Hearne’s team with the captain leading by example and winning the girl player of the final. The best boy award was won by Aodhan Byrne who was the main scorer on the day for a team who gave it everything to the end. The willie O’ Leary cup was fought for and the result was in doubt till the end. Ciara Banville led her charges and by half time looked to be well in command but Paul Hearne and his troops got up a head of steam and got there with a few points to spare at the final whistle. The girl player of the final was Aoibhe Murphy and Ben McAleese won the boys. The presentation followed with Emmett O’ Leary representing the family. Martin Doyle and Noel Feeney both spoke and thanked a lot of people. This was followed by a photo for the paper. Everybody went away happy with hurling being the winner. All the boys and girls got refreshments provided by Sheila. The attention now turns to the Rackard league finals with a lot of the same boys and girls involved. This competition is very popular and it’s a date to put in your diary for 2016.shels St/ Ibars abu
