Wexford’s Player of the decade

Great news Kate Kelly has been selected

and will be honoured at Sunday’s All-Ireland final between Cork v Kilkenny in Croke Park.  Camogie celebrated its centenary in 2004 so some special events have been held to mark the next ten years, including this competition.

Each club had the opportunity of nominating a worthy recipient and naturally we pressed the claims of Kate to this award.  The good news was announced at the County Board meeting last week.  Congratulations Kate and it’s worth pointing out this quite magnificent fact:  she has played Senior championship for Wexford every single year from 1996 onwards!  What a remarkable record of comittment and longevity.

Each year the club is obliged to purchase two tickets for the All-Ireland final, and as a gesture of goodwill the officers have donated them to Seán and Peggie Kelly to use on the day their daughter is being recognised once again for her tremendous talent and dedication.  Kate well done!!
