Well done to our senior footballers who captured the league title this afternoon in Wexford Park overcoming Adamstown 1-12 to 1-9.
Our senior footballers met Adamstown in the league final in Wexford Park Sunday afternoon. Eric Bradly pointed for Adamstown inside the opening minute and Adamstown added a point from play moments later. Craig McCabe pointed 2 frees and the sides were level at the end of the first quarter. Liam Donnelly did well to offload to Glen Malone whose shot was on target and Liam Donnelly added a nice point moments later. However it was Adamstown who finished stronger and they added 1-2 in the final ten minutes to leave a half time score 1-5 to -04. The damage could have been greater but for an Eoin Doyle interception. Ciaran O’Shaughnessy and Simon Donohoe also strong in defence. Adamstown pointed again in the opening minute of the new half but Craig McCabe brought Shels back into a game when he goaled from a penalty. 1-4 to 1-6 in favour of Adamstown. Again Adamstown replied but it was to be all Shels from then on with Craig McCabe (-5F) and Brian Malone (0-3) going on a scoring spree. Adamstown got two late points but Shels had done enough to capture the league title. 1-12 to 1-9. Joint Captains Brian Malone and Aidan Cash received the cup on behalf of the team.
