Seniors draw with Rapps

Our senior hurlers drew with Rapparees tonight. Conor Byrne holding his nerve under duress to convert the all import point at full time. 0-16 to 1-13.

Our senior hurlers met Rapparees in the league in Hollymount Thursday night. Joe Kelly was first off the mark with nice free. Rapps equalised moments later. Both teams exchanged points before Shels stretched into at 7 to 2 point lead courtesy of Joe Kelly 3, Conor Byrne 3F, and Conor Walsh. Ciaran O’Shaughnessy went on a spree with 3 lovely points and also contributed to another Joe Kelly point. Shels lead -11 to -07 at half time.

On the resumption Willie O’Shaughnessy did great work to point but Rapps were coming back into the game and pointed and goaled to level the game. -12 to 1-9. Ciaran O’Shaughnessy pointed and Conor Byrne converted a free but Rapps went into the lead with 3 points in a row. Joe Kelly did brilliantly to put a die line cut over the bar but again Rapps went into the lead. Conor Byrne had the unenviable task to level the game into injury time when taking a free from distance. However Bomber nonplussed as usual made no mistake and sent the sliothar over the bar to level the match much to the delight of  his team mates and supporters alike.. 0-16 to 1-13
