U12 V Cushinstown

This week our U12 boys had only one game scheduled for them. This game was an away fixture to Cushinstown so it was up the road with throw in fixed for seven o’clock.

The Shels boys got off to a great start. Dylan O’Neill opened the scoring for the visitors with a point that was followed by a goal from Mark Scallan. Dylan was to go on and score his second point shortly afterwards not long after this he hit the post to be denied a goal. At the break it was 1-2 to 1 point. A strong performance from Tiarnan Malone, Conor Roche and Aodhan Byrne made life very difficult for the home side to score. A fine ball into Ryan Kielty set him up for his very well taken first goal. This was followed up by an other great ball into Ryan Kielty by Dylan O’Neill for Ryan to score his second goal. Dylan was to score a goal himself afterwards. There was two more scores for the Shels these came from a very strong Paul Hearne getting his name on the score sheet with two fine points. Adam O’Leary and Joe Devereux put in a strong performance here tonight also. But last but no means least to be mentioned is the Shels SUPER Goalie Owen McCarthy . Owen didn’t just make one great save he made at least three outstanding saves to deny the home side what looked like certain goals. A very experienced man was heard saying ” That young lad is the BEST U12 goalie I have ever seen”. The final score was Shels 4-4 to Cushinstown 1-2. Well done to ALL the boys here tonight another great TEAM effort.
