The Shelmaliers minor hurlers got their championship campaign of to a good start with a well earned draw v Glynn Barntown.
Jody Donohoe got the first score of the game after 5 min .Glynn/Barntown responded with a goal and a point. After some good pressure by the Shels forwards Liam Rockett found the G/B net. A pointed free from Conor Hearne and a good point from Stephen Rossitter kept the boys in touch. Michael Feeney and Conor Hearne added two more points from frees before Glynn added two more goals. The Shels boys finished the half with two more frees.
The boys started well in the second half with three points form frees by Michael Feeney.
After 10 minutes Glynn/Barntown player Frank Hynes suffered a very bad knee injury which halted the play for about 10 minutes.
Glynn/Barntown then had a good spell for about 10 minutes before Daniel Murphy went on one of his long solo runs which he finished off with a brilliant goal.
With minutes remaining Stephen Rossitter put over a point from a very difficult angle to give the boys a one point lead.
As luck would have it on the stroke of full time Glynn/Barntown equalised with a long range point.
Final Score Shels 2 -11 Glynn/Barntown 3- 8
