Juniors narrowly lose out to Rosslare.

The weather didn’t favour good hurling; however, Shelmaliers & Rosslare gave a great exhibition of hurling when meeting in the third round of the Junior Hurling League played in Hollymount on Saturday last.

Two early points from Conor Tobin and Kevin O Leary gave the Shelmaliers a good early lead. However, as the game progresses the Rosslare men began to exert a lot of pressure on the Shelmaliers defence. Rosslare began to register the scores and they led by 0-8 to 0-4 after 20 minutes. The first goal of the game arrived on the stroke of half time to leave a score line of Shelmaliers 0-4 to Rosslare 1-8.

The start of the second half saw Rosslare extent their lead before the Shelmaliers began a great comeback with points from Conor Tobin, Willie O Shaughnessy, Ciaran Walsh and Johnny Campbell. The Shelmalier supporters were on the edge of their seats when Willie O Shaughnessy fired to the roof of the Rosslare net with 10 minutes remaining and a score line of Shelmaliers 0-10 to Rosslare’s 1-10. Despite a number of good scoring chances in the dying minutes the score line didn’t change with victory going to Rosslare.
