U12 camogie blitz a success

Well done to all involved in the Under 12 camogie blitz held in Hollymount today, we hosted Blackwater Buffers Alley and Oulart/The Ballagh

We were thrilled to have 19 girls line out, enabling us to have two teams, with a little help from Blackwater and Oulart/The Ballagh players.   With our Blue team meeting Blackwater in the first game, our red team meeting Oulart/The Ballagh and our blue team meeting Buffers Alley in the second game, in the third game our blue team lined out against Oulart/The Ballagh and our red team against Blackwater, while we finished with our red team meeting Buffer’s Alley.

The cluster blitz are based on Go Games rules, to encourage girls to try different positions, slalom poles used, no kicking, no soloing, and if a player is fouled they take their own free, play commences with a throw in from halfway, ball over endline is a free from halfway, and player nearest sideline cut takes sideline.

It was great to see the girls play so well together on our first day out and using their camogie skills effectively.  Team as follows:  Andrea Fielding Catie & Beth Byrne Becky Halligan Amy O’Connor Aoife Doyle Hannah Hearne Aoibhe Murphy Aoife Hearne Caoimhe Parker Nicole Harding-Kenny Katie Feeney Ciara & Sinéad Banville Ellie Doyle Mai ling Tynan Erin Kehoe Kate Murphy and Sophie Byrne.

Well done to team manager Tom Tynan, mentors Angie Kinsella John Banville and Trish Fielding who organised the blitz.  A big thank you to all the Parents who brought sandwiches and biscuits, and our ladies in the catering, Mairéad Potter & Emma Hearne & Trish Kehoe.

A special word of thanks to our two new recruited Referees, Linzi Lanigan and Katie Lacey, who did a fantastic job.  Thank you to Buffers Alley Oulart/The Ballagh and Blackwater teams and mentors.

We look forward to seeing all the players on Monday evening for training indoors on the astro-turf from 7 to 8 pm.  Don’t forget €2 for lights.
