It was a tough test for the Ibars ladies, so soon after winning the county title.  Natalia Hyland gave Ballyboden the lead in the third minute, while Kate Kelly levelled from a ’45, but the Ibars suffered a set back when Denise McGrath scored a goal in the seventh minute, the Ibars pulled back the score as Michelle Murphy’s handpass to Kate Kelly who buried in it the net, levelling again 1-1 each.

A brace of points for the Ibars followed two from Kate Kelly frees and a neat point from Michelle Hearne.  Ballyboden drew level again in the fourteenth minute when Emer Lucey hit the net leaving the score 2-1 to 1-4.  The Ibar’s stepped it up again knocking over a brace of points, by Michelle Hearne, Kate Kelly (free), Anne-Marie Kelly, Michelle Murphy, Shelly Doyle and another Kate Kelly free, leaving a 1-10 to 2-2 lead for the Ibars in the 24th minute.  Unfortunately, for the Ibars, Ballyboden’s Ciara Ruddy fired in their third goal.  Anne Griffin followed up with another point, leaving Ibars with a 1-10 to 3-3 lead at half-time.

Ballyboden opened the second half with points from Doireann Mullany and Griffin, but he Ibars regained the lead after a brace of Kate Kelly frees leaving the score at 1-12 to 3-5.  A great save from Sandy Carr followed at a crucial time, with the Ibars stepping up to the mark when the pressure was on, Kate Kelly followed with another two points 1-14 to 3-6, Anne Griffin Ballyboden scored a point from a ’45 two minutes into added time, leaving the final score 1-14 to 3-7, with the Ibars winning the Leinster Club semi final, after an astounding display.
