Senior Hurlers- emphatic win

Our senior hurlers had an emphatic 6-14 to to 2-13 win over Oylgate/Glenbrien.

Goals from Stephen Banville (2), Conor Byrne (2), Brian Malone & Ciaran O’Shaughnessy. Our senior team now meet St. Anne’s in both hurling and football quarter finals.  Shels had a dream start with Joe Kelly pointing  and Conor Byrne hitting 1-1 in first 5 minutes. However Oylgate goaled moments later. Shels with wind advantage steadily amassed a further 2-2 before Oylgate hit their 2nd major of the day after a penalty was initially saved but the resulting rebound shot found the back of the net. They teams went into the break with Shels 3-7 to 2-1 ahead.  In the second half Oylgate couldn’t get back into the game and Shels steadily increased their lead. In the last 10 mins with the scores at 6-13 to 2-8 Shels introduced their full amount of subs and Oylgate did amass 5 points in these closing minutes however Shels had done enough and will now meet St. Anne’s in the quarter final Sat 7th Sept at 4.30 in Wexford Park.
