It was a point gained rather than a point lost. It not easy to get a positive result at this venue, and mentors Kim Walsh, John Kelly, Mick Mahon and Alan Aherne were happy with the general display. We started very well and had two goals inside 90 seconds from Roisin Walsh and Niamh Walsh, but it was a closer contest for the remainder of the game. At half time we led by 2-4 to 1-2, with the points coming from Shauna Kelly, Jessie Harding and Niamh Walsh from a brace of frees.
Craanford-Monaseed increased the pressue with a goal less than five minutes into the new half, and they narrowed the gap to one point before Niamh Walsh got our final score with twelve minutes left. We chalked up a couple of wides after that whereas the opposition drew level with a brace of points, but thankfully they missed a free with the last puck of the game so the spoils were shared.
The six Under 14’s all played well after their exertions in Limerick over the weekend, with Zoe O’Leary in particular doing a fine job when she was moved to curb Craanford’s co under 16 player Una Sinnott. Team as follows: Katie Lacey, Sarah Harding-Kenny, Chloe Mahon, Megan Murphy, Zoe O’Leary, Linzi Lanigan, Larah Campbell, Niamh Walsh (capt, 1-3, 0-2 frees), Leanne Corrigan, Jessie Harding (0-1), Shauna Kelly (0-1), Eleanor Lacey, Mikaela Lanigan, Jessica Sinnott and Roisin Walsh (1-0).
Their next game at home to Castletown-Liam Mellows on Wednesday 17 July at 7.30pm. All support is very welcome!
