Minors lose by single point

A single point was all that separated the Shelmalier minor hurlers & Faythe Harriers 1-11 to 0-13 in the minor hurling championship match Wed night in Pairc Charman.

The first half was a great content of hurling with little between the sides, Michael Feeney opened the scoring with two well taken points after 10 min. Further points from James Cash, Graham Staples (2) and another from Michael Feeney saw the Harriers lead by the narrowest of margins at half time 1-4 to 0-6. The Harriers came out the stronger at the start of the second half and built up a three point lead before sharpshooter Michael Feeney put over a free for the Shels men. The game came to life in the last 10minutes when the Shels came back to within a point with scores from Eoghan Nolan, Daniel Murphy and Michael Feeney. However hard they tried the black and amber men couldn’t get the crucial score with a number of late attempts going narrowly wide. Final score Shelmalier 0-13 Faythe Harriers 1-11.
