Late penalty deny Shels Junior Footballers

A Vols penalty scored in additional time allowed the Wexford town side to draw 2-6 to 1-9 with the Shels in the 4th rd of the Junior Football championship in Killurin on Sat last.

The Vols scored the first two points before points from Colin Redmond (2) and Liam Donnelly put the Shels ahead for the first time in the match. Another Colin Redmond point in the 28th minute saw his side trail by 0-4 to 0-5 at half time. An Adrian Veale goal in the 35th minute put his side ahead again but the Vols replied with four points of their own.  The Shelmaliers came strong in the closing stages and when Brian O Conner fired to the Vols net to leave a score line of 2-6 to 0-9 with only minutes remaining, however, on one of the Vols final attacks their forward was pulled down in the small square and they scored the resulting penalty to level the game.
