Shelmaliers and Crossabeg draw in Minor hurling:

In an exciting contest from start to finish with the advantage changing from end to end the Shelmalier minor hurlers drew with their neighbours Crossabeg/Ballymurn 0-12 to 1-9 played in Hollymount on Wed evening last. Enda Cloake opened the home teams account with a point in the 5th minute and Jody Donohoe scored the second shortly afterwards. Crossabeg soon replied with a goal and a point in the 12th minute. Further points from Simon Donohoe (2) and ace free taker Michael Feeney (2) saw the visitors lead by 1-4 to 0-6 at half time.  On the resumption two unanswered points stretched Crossabeg’s lead before two fine Michael Feeney’s free closed the gap for the home team. Crossabeg pulled away with points in the 12th and 14th minutes but the Shels didn’t give up and the excitement rise to fever pitch when the home team levelled with points from Michael Feeney and Simon Donohoe after 20 minutes. With both sides trying to get the upper hand many scoring opportunities went astray. Victory seemed to be with Crossabeg when they scored in the 28th minute only for Michael Feeney to level matters with a point a minute later. The last few minutes saw both sides trying to snatch victory but both were unable to do so.
