Seniors go down to Oulart/The Ballagh

Our senior hurlers with a depleted squad went down to Oulart/The Ballagh this evening in Hollymount 2-21 to 2-7.

Oulart got off to a blistering start and amassed 1-2 before Chris McGrath pointed for Shels, Conor Byrne was also on target moments later. However Oulart stretched the lead and Shels only scores coming to the break were three frees converted by the accurate Conor Byrne.  Oulart had a penalty well saved by full back Aidan Murphy. A late goal by Willie O’Shaughnessy after good work by Shane Birney and Chris McGrath left the half time score 1-12 to 1-5 in favour of the visitors.
Again in the second half Oulart were dominant and were pulling well ahead of the home team. Shels added two frees from Conor Byrne before he had to go off injured with a nasty cut to his hand. A second goal by Willie O’Shaughnessy 13 minutes from the end was Shels last score of the game and the final score was 2-21 to 2-7.
