Davidstown late goal deny Shelmalier Junior Hurlers.
A goal in the 29th minute by Davidstown was the major difference between the Enniscorthy side and the Shelmalier Junior hurlers in the first round of the championship played in Ballygarret on Sunday evening last, resulting in a final score line  of Shelmaliers 1-13 to Davidstown 2-15. Johnny Campbell opened the scoring for the Shels in the 5th minute and two further points from Shane Birney before a long range free from Denis Kelly in the 15th minute saw the sides level after the first quarter of play. A goal and a point from corner forward Mick Kelly on the 20th minute saw the Shels lead by 1-7 to 1-6 at half time. With the assistance of the wind Davidstown came more into the game in the second half put points from Shane Birney, Willie O Shaughnessy and Ciaran Walsh kept the Shels in the game until the last few minutes when a fierce drive at goal by Davidstown resulted in another goal, to leave a final score of Shelmaliers 1-13 to Davidstown 2-15.
