Juniors lose to near neighbours

Our Junior footballers travelled to Taghmon on Sun evening last to take on Crossabeg/Ballymurn in the 2nd round of the championship with the result of the game hinging on the harshly sending off of full forward Conor Byrne early in the second half.

Up to that point both sides were evenly matched but the extra man had a big impact on the second half of the match. Crossabeg led by 0-5 to 0-2 at half time in an entertaining match with Colin Redmond and Adrian Veale on the mark for the black and amber side and they find performances from goalie Sean Byrne, defenders Marc Walsh, Eoin O Leary, Conor Walsh and attackers Willie O Shaughnessy, Chris Gordon, Liam Donnelly and Conor Byrne. Following the sending off the Shels found the going very challenging but they battled on regardless and with Graham Lawler-Ryan, John Redmond, Steven Carr and Colin Redmond moving the ball well. The match was fought with great determination by both teams up to the final whistle, when the score line was Shelmaliers 0-5 Crossabeg/Ballymurn 2-13 with the two goals coming late in the game and Shels scores coming from Liam Donnelly, Steven Carr and Colin Redmond.
