Despite playing against the wind the girls led by 1-1 to 0-2 after eight minutes following a goal from Kate Kelly lovely pass by Deirdre McMahon. Unfortunately Rathnure conceded 1-7 without a response from our girls, score at half time 1-9 to 1-1. The performance improved in the second half but we couldn’t bridge the eight point lead by Rathnure. The fact we scored 1-4 to 0-4 was a positive sign and something to build on, especially as a lot more players will be coming into contention for places. Team as follows: Sandy Carr, Catherine Doyle, Leona Tector, Maeve Quill, Ciara Donohoe (capt), Bridget Curran (0-1), Fiona Cullen, Kate Kelly (2-4, 1-0 pen, 0-2 frees, 0-1 45), Anne-Marie Kelly, Shelly Doyle, Michelle Harding, Sharron Daly, Niamh Potter, Aine Lacey, Deirdre McMahon Subs: Eadaoin Fitzgerald for Donohoe who was ill, Niamh Walsh for Daly injured, also Mary Cullen, Rachael Murphy, Lisa Quill, Sinéad Kelly and Dervla Potter
Hard luck
To the Senior camogie team who were defeated by Rathnure 1-13 to 2-5 last night in Rathnure.
