Great win for Intermediates

Well done to the Intermediate camogie girls who beat Monageer/Boolavogue 3-6 to nil last night in Monageer.

Prospects looked good at half-time when we led 1-4 to nil, with Hazel O’Leary scoring 1-1 in a space of 30 seconds midway through the first quarter despite being opposed by Catherine O’Loughlin(one of the great County team players).  The dominance continued into the second half with goals from Niamh Walsh in the 39th minute and Michelle Murphy in the 45th minute.  The girls gave an excellent all-round display, with the backs constantly attacking the ball and giving their rivals not time to settle.  Eadaoin Fitagerald had a great game in the second half in particular, while Sandy Carr and Niamh Potter were well on top at midfield.  Eight subs are now permitted in league games so we were happy to play the seven players in attendence.

Last year this team lost their first league game and went unbeaten after that:  so hopefully they’ll stick to that script again as this win was a big boost after that narrow defeat to Naomh Eanna two weeks ago.

Team were as follows:  Mary Cullen, Caroline Curran, Nikki Scallan, Sinead Kelly, Lisa Quill, Catherine Doyle (capt), Eadaoin Fitzgerald, Sandy Carr, Niamh Potter, Anne-Marie Kelly (0-1 pen), Hazel O’Leary (1-1), Roisin Tobin, Niamh Walsh (1-1), Michelle Murphy (1-3), Therese Sheil.  Subs;  Michelle Harding for AM Kelly, Dervla Potter for Walsh, Maeve Doyle for S Kelly, Niamh Doyle for Curran, Ceara O’Brien for Carr, Chloe Thomas for Murphy, Chloe Mahon for Sheil.
