Camogie Co Final today

Check out player profiles Mag Kelly, Jacqui O’Connor, Katrina Parrock, Sharon Daly, Aine Lacey and Michelle Harding for today’s County Final.

MAG KELLY (30): Beauty Therapist. The giant-hearted Mag typifies the spirit of this squad and has shared in every major success over the past decade and a half. Was right half-forward and top scorer with 1-2 in the county final of 1997 and won another two medals in that position in 2001 and 2002,  having also featured at midfield for the 1998 success. Mag, who captained the team in the 2003 final and played with Wexford at every level, is joined on today’s squad by her three sisters.
JACQUI O’CONNOR (32): Senior Manager, Campus Services, W.I.T. An accurate finisher, Jacqui’s first stint with the club yielded an impressive success rate as she was centre-forward on the county and Leinster-winning teams of 2001 and 2002. Returned to her native Drom-Inch in Tipperary to win a third successive county title in 2003 but is now in the midst of her ‘second coming’ and scored two points from right half-forward in the 2010 final. Represented Tipperary at all levels.
KATRINA PARROCK (22): Student in W.I.T.  An ace attacker who has lit up the inter-county scene over the past six years, Katrina showed her class in the semi-final and is playing in her second decider with the club today, having been hampered by an ankle injury two years ago. Has won three of her four All-Ireland Senior medals since joining St. Ibar’s/Shelmalier in 2009 along with two All Star awards. Won the RTE ‘player of the match’ for her performance in the 2010 All-Ireland final.
SHARRON DALY (29): Clerical Officer. Dedicated to the cause, vice-captain Sharron was the first of today’s squad to play a full-scale camogie game in Croke Park when she represented her native Offaly in the All-Ireland Junior championship decider of 2001. Made a huge impact in her debut season with the club in 2010 when she returned after a four-year break from the game, featuring at left half-back in the county final, and has been used in the forwards in this campaign.
AINE LACEY (18): Student in Coláiste an Atha (Kilmuckridge) P.L.C. A skilful attacker, Aine is enjoying a successful first Senior season after completing a Junior ‘B’ double in 2011. Also played in the Under-18 finals against Ferns St. Aidan’s in 2011 and 2012, scoring 1-3 in the former and captaining the side in the latter when she was hampered by illness. Played at full-forward on the Wexford team in this year’s All-Ireland Minor ‘B’ final against Derry. Her mother Kathleen (nee Donohoe) is a former star player with the club.
MICHELLE HARDING (21): Student in W.I.T. A hard-working player who has made huge strides, Michelle was a substitute two years ago and starred at centre-forward on the Junior ‘B’ championship and league-winning team in 2011. Made her Senior championship debut in the same position against St. Martin’s in July and is following in the footsteps of her mother Mag (nee Parker), and aunts Christine, Teresa and Caroline who all represented the club with distinction.
