Hard luck to U16 Ibars team

Hard luck to our U16 team who went down to their first Championship defeat in agonising circumstances in Gorey on Thursday last, 9th August against Naomh Eanna.

They trailed Naomh Eanna by 4-7 to 4-2 midway through the third quarter but hit 1-4 without reply and held a two-point lead with three and a half minutes gone of the extra four which the referee indicated would be played.

The home side’s best forward struck for the winning goal on a rare breakaway (5-7 to 5-6), and two further chances to equalise from placed balls unfortunately weren’t taken.Team: Róisín Walsh; Katie Lacey, Maeve Doyle (capt.), Megan Murphy; Linzi Lanigan, Niamh Walsh, Eadaoin Fitzgerald; Leanne Corrigan, Róisín Tobin (0-3, 1 free); Geraldine Doolan, Hazel O’Leary (1-1), Cliodhna Flynn; Chloe Mahon (1-0), Shauna Kelly (2-0), Jessie Harding (1-2).  Sub. – Róisín Doolan for Flynn.

Best of luck to the girls in their next game at home to Oylegate-Glenbrien on Thursday, 16th August at 7 pm.
