Shelmaliers continued their disappointing start to the Senior Football Championship with a 4 point defeat to St Martins in Taghmon on April 20th.
Again our boys started the game very strongly with the forwards being very impressive and mid way through the opening half we led by three points, maybe not an accurate reflection of the play as there were a lot of missed chances. Slowly St Martins came into the game with Daithi Waters dominant at mid field and Brian Birney scoring from centre forward, the Shels team were three points down at half time. The start of the second half was all St Martins and they moved into a 6 point lead. However the Shels came roaring back and in an exciting finish they just came up short on a score line of 1:10 to 2:3. Best on the night were Craig McCabe, Glen Murphy, AJ Lehane and Barry O Connor:
