Junior Footballers not strong enough

jmShels second string met Cushinstown firsts in Hollymount sat evening in the second round of the league.

There was nothing between the sides coming to the break with Colin Redmond converting 3 free to keep Shels with the visitors and Kevin O’Leary, & Barry O’Connor shoring defence well.  However a late surge from Cushinstown yielded 1-3 in the last 5 mins to leave the half time score 1-8 to 0-5 in favour of Cushinstown. The goal scored by sub MJ Kinsella. Cushinstown piled on the pressure in the second half,  MJ Kinsella was proving to be very effective, whilst Matthew Cody and Enda Doran were constant threats to the Shelmalier defence. James Murphy got a great goal after the hard working duo, Niall Stafford and Conor Byrne combined to put him through but it was not enough for the Shels who trailed 1-09 to 1-16 at the final whistle.
