Minor Hurlers lose to Crossabeg

Shelmalier and Crossabeg play out exciting match.

Shelmalier minor hurlers played out an exciting match with near neighbours Crossabeg/Ballymurn in Hollymount on Sunday morning last with the visitors winning by 5-6 to 2-8.
The Shelmaliers put on the early pressure and Daniel Murphy was first on the score board with a point after 5 minutes. However, Crossabeg soon replied with a goal and a point. Neal Rossiter put over the second point for the Shels after 10 minutes, but again Crossabeg replied with a goal and a point. A great solo from Neal Rossiter after 15 minutes resulted in Eoghan Nolan firing to the Crossabeg net and another solo by Simon Donohoe saw Aaron Ryan pointing for the black and amber side. Eoghan Nolan got the Shelmaliers next score when receiving a pass from James Cash and Neal Rossiter rounded off the Shels scores in the first half when sending over a long range free in the 20th min.
The second half was an even affair with both sides showing great skills of hurling, with Simon Donohoe (1-2) and Neal Rossiter (0-1) the Shelmalier scorers in the second half. Despite great efforts from the whole Shelmalier team in the second half they were unable to overcome the half time deficit.
