Our junior hurlers had to be content with a draw against Rapparee’s yesterday evening in Monamolin. 1-9 each.

Rapps were first to score with a point inside the opening minute. Shels equalised soon after with a free from Ibar Murphy. The sides exchanged points and were -03 each inside first quarter. However Rapps finished the first half the stronger leading 1-6 to 0-7 at the break. Shels finished the half without influential midfielder Cathal Gaule due to a leg injury. On the resumption it was Rapps all the way as they added 3 points in the first 14 minutes to stretch their lead to 5 points. However Shels refused to give up and dug deep. Willie O’ Shaughnessy was unlucky not to score a goal, his shot just inches wide.  Shels upped their tempo were rewarded with a goal from Des Kehoe after good work by Darren Malone.  John Redmond added a free just on 29th minute to leave the bare minimum between the sides. Shels working tirelessly were awarded a late free and John Redmond put the resulting shot effortlessly over the bar under immense pressure to force the draw. 1-9 each.
