Shels face daunting Challenge

Shelmaliers Juvenile Footballers take on the mighty Starlight’s in the eagerly awaited Co. Final next Wednesday 21st Sept in St Patrick’s Park. @ 7 PM. Read More

The Starlight’s enter the final unbeaten while the Shels only loss came at the expense of the Enniscorthy lads early in the campaign.

Both sides have a talented bunch of players and they also play a very attractive brand of attacking football.   In recent times Starlight’s have had the best of their encounters with the “over the water” boys but at under 12 level this band of Shelmaliers warriors do have a county final victory over the Starlight’s.

There is an in depth profile of the Shels elsewhere on the web site.  Starlight’s have some outstanding footballers in goalkeeper Aaron Sinnott, defenders “Wooshie” and Fion Carty”.   In midfield the talented and strong Liam “Gippo” Ryan has been hugely impressive all year.

The “Lights” potent attack includes the flyer Darragh Pepper, the dangerous Ryan Mahon, an influential centre forward in Jack Hanley and another lively attacker in Leonard Connolly and also on the team for the earlier part of the campaign was the stellar Kevin Foley who was on the Wexford minor hurling team this year.

Nothing but a highly charged and top class performance from the young Shels will be good enough next Wednesday.

All Support much appreciated.
