U14 Hurling Play Off.

The Shels U14 hurlers were in action last night against Fethard in Hollymount in a Play Off to reach the county ¼ final.

Having been beaten by 8 points earlier in the season by Fethard our lads went into the game knowing they would have to improve greatly on that performance to win the game. We couldn’t have asked for a better start with Nathan F Murphy finding the back of the net in the first minute quickly followed by a point from Jody Donohoe. Dan Campbell then found the back of the net before Fethard registered their first score a point from a free. The away team only registered two further points in the first half compared to two goals and four points for the Shels boys, Nathan F Murphy getting both the goals. The second half started in much the same way with Craig Parker goaling early for home team followed by a Stephen Rossiter point. Fethard rallied a bit scoring four points without reply but a goal from Sean Keane put our lads back in charge. It was the best performance of the year from the lads and hopefully they can carry this form into Friday night next against Crossabeg/Ballymurn in Hollymount at 6.45pm. Scorers on the night – Nathan F Murphy 5.00. Dan Campbell 2.01. Jody Donohoe 1.03. Sean Keane 1.01. Craig Parker 1.00. Stephen Rossiter 0.02.
