u.14 girls reach semi final

St.Ibars u14’s played in a play-off against Bannow/Ballymitty for a place in the u14 league semi-final.

The game was played in Piercestown on Monday last, the girls had played Bannow at home two weeks previous in their final group game which was an exciting encounter however the girls were beaten on the night so they had plenty motivation leading in this playoff.

The girls started strong with Jessie Harding scoring a goal and a point from Niamh Walsh (free) in the first ten minutes.  Bannow/Ballymitty settled in to the game and scored 4 – 2 without reply in the next 15 minutes.  However the Ibars girls finished the half strong scoring another goal and a point.  This left the Ibars girls 2 goals behind after the first half.

The Ibars girls showed a more determined display in the second half as they dominated the half to win the game 7-4 to 5-2.   The girls got the second half off to a blistering start with a goal from Shauna Kelly and a point from a free.  This was followed with a further three goals from Niamh Walsh, one from a penalty and the other from a 21 yard free along with a further two points.   Siobhan Doolin finished the Ibars scoring with a goal. While Bannon/Ballymitty only succeeded in scoring one goal in the second half.

Scorers: Niamh Walsh (3-4; 2-4f); Siobhan Doolin (2-0); Jessie Harding (1-0); Shauna Kelly (1-0).

Congratulations to the girls on reaching the county semi-final, this will be played next Friday night in Hollymount at 7.30pm v Craanford.  All support welcome.
