Camogie update & Dates for your diary

The senior and junior teams were also out in the first round of championship at the weekend.

The seniors played Rathnure in Hollymount a repeat of last year’s semi-final in Wexford on Saturday evening at 7pm.  It was a windy evening and the home side played against the wind in the first half, having contained and outplayed Rathnure for most of the first half St.Ibars failed to capitalise on the possession, and trailed 0-1 to 0-2 after 20 minutes.  Continuing to have the upper hand St.Ibars failed to score any other score in the first half.  Rathnure however managed to score a further 3-2 leaving the score line of 3-4 to 0-1 at HT.  The second half Ibars continued to dominate the game however they didn’t fail to score in the second half and even with a very strong second half display they still fell short at the end.

The Junior team on the other hand played their first championship match against Blackwater, in Blackwater on Monday 2nd at 7pm.  The girls made no mistakes and won this game convincingly

The senior team also played on Tuesday last, 26th April in Carlow town hurling club grounds against Camross, Laois in the South final of the Leinster League.  It was a tough game and Camross put the girls to the test but victory in the end means that we are in the Leinster League final, details to be confirmed.
